Although this print from Godey Peterson 1866 ball gown was so distorted by time, I did my best to capture the prints gorgeous design. A gown that creates an amazing silhouette. A perfect rendition of a gown from the Civil War time period that we love! Feminine champagne silk is the basis for the construction of this gown. (although a combination of shades would be equally gorgeous) The bodice has a very becoming neckline with pouf ed sleeves that sit off of the shoulder. Organza fabric is gathered over the bust line adding additional elegance to the pattern. Contrasting brown velvet or satin adds interest as well as elegance to the the bodice and the over skirt. Matching organza is created into a stunning over skirt and gently gathered. Embellishments such as Venice lace, handmade flowers or embroidered Bavarian crystals are added to the bottom of the over skirt. Simply Magnificent!! A classic pattern from the 1800's with many extra elements that bring the design into a category on its own, truly one of a kind. This gown will require many yards of fabric due to the gathering and overlay . It also will require extra time to be made into your custom gown. Suggested fabrics are silks, satins, brocade and organza or similar sheer lightweight fabric. Imagine your favorite shade from deep ruby velvet to pale blue organza or bridal white. Truly a design that has incredible presence.
I use authentic patterns, duplicates from different era's. I also design my own. As of this date my work has been used in plays abroad, musical productions and reenacting. There is no compromise on authenticity and construction. Only the highest quality fabrics are used. Each piece is sewn carefully and finished as if it were a wedding dress. My goal is that each item reflects it's individuality with great craftsmanship...nothing rushed...details however small that captures someones eye and turns their head to admire...I believe my gowns will make you feel amazing and my customers will make my gowns look beautiful!!! After you purchase your custom design, you will receive a detailed measurement chart. You will need to have a experienced seamstress assist with your measurements. As soon as I receive your measurements a mock bodice will be made and mailed to you to try on. This allows you to make any adjustments in the fit of your bodice. When final measurements are approved by you, your gown will cut and hand sewn. It will be shipped priority mail with insurance and delivery confirmation. Garments are sewn on a first come basis. Due to the amount of work that this gown requires, six weeks will be needed to complete it. Fabric choice may vary due to availability.
